Een andere blik op de wereld
Op 'Over Hugo' staat een wereldkaart in de Gelijke Aarde-projectie (2018, links), die de werkelijke omvang van continenten laat zien. De Afrikaanse Unie, waarin 55 landen zijn verenigd, wil af van een eeuwenoud misverstand: dat Afrika kleiner lijkt dan het echt is. Knip en plak de VS, China, India, Saoedi-Arabië en een reeks kleinere landen erbij – ze passen samen op het Afrikaanse continent.

A different view on the world
On the 'About Hugo' page, I use a world map in the Equal Earth projection (2018, left), which shows continents in their true relative size. The African Union, uniting 55 countries, wants to end a centuries-old misconception: that Africa looks smaller than it really is. Cut and paste the USA, China, India, Saudi Arabia and a string of smaller countries together – they all fit onto the African continent.
