Ubuntu
"Ubuntu" wordt soms vertaald als "Ik ben omdat wij zijn" of "Ik ben omdat jij bent." Het is een Zuid-Afrikaanse levensfilosofie die draait om verbondenheid, menselijkheid en gemeenschapszin. Ubuntu werd na de apartheid door Nelson Mandela en Desmond Tutu gepromoot als basis voor vergeving en verzoening in Zuid-Afrika. Een hele praktische toepassing er van is: ik doe wat voor een ander en dat levert dan twee keer wat op: voor de ontvanger, maar ook voor mezelf.

"Ubuntu" is sometimes translated as "I am because we are" or "I am because you are." It's a South African philosophy of life built around connectedness, humanity, and community. After apartheid, Ubuntu was promoted by Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu as a foundation for forgiveness and reconciliation in South Africa. A very practical application of it: me doing projects pays off twice over — for the recipient, but also for myself.
